Jan. 14th's session of the Golden Fold Movement

(Photo - West Coast Emcee Kendrick Lamar)

This is the way to begin a new year ! We have moved to a new location on TCC's campus. We will now meet in the Lynnhaven Building in room E-121. This location is close to the new office of S.A.A.B. Congratulations S.A.A.B. ! On this session we began accepting young ladies into our fold of Young Leaders. Welcome ladies !

This session began with an interesting discussion on the 'New West Coast Rap King' Kendrick Lamar and his lyrical content. We then moved into a discussion/debate/argument on President Obama and the necessity of voting. Very interesting points from some of our community Big-Brothers who have lost their voting rights due to their prior incarcerations moved us into our first presenter - Mr. Antoine Hickman of Suffolk Public Schools' Special Education Department. His guidance on the ways of being a Gentleman (vs. acting like a N*%%#) sparked loads of agreement/disagreement/insight. Our second presenter, Brother Malachi, moved the mood from a focus upon improvement to a focus on a vivid and deep understanding of the escalating and long-standing difficulties that can be experienced when one is on the wrong side of the law and the community. Having a presentation on Sound Adulthood from Brother Hickman was a perfect balance to the Street Scholarship presented by Brother Malachi.

Welcome to our new Young Leaders and Big-Brothers ! We grow and improve with you !
