Stopping the violence 2017- Police and The Golden Fold working together to understand each other

Here are some scenes and videos of members of the Virginia Beach Police force, members of The Golden Fold, and their Green Run High School peers from GMAC and LDFS, learning how to reduce violence and learning how to improve community and police relations. This session was led by The Golden Fold's BridgeBuilder Chris Washington, a Virginia Beach Police officer.

G.M.A.C., The Golden Fold Mentor Movement is a mentorship program serving young males and fathers. We serve 6th - 12th grade youth by providing Leadership and S.T.E.M. activities in Virginia Beach, Virginia's Green Run High School as an eveniung activity of Green Run's GMAC mentor program. Our Lamplight Concepts

Our Lamplight concepts are Sound Adulthood (Responsibility, leadership, and being morally based), Scholarship (Financial savvy, Political awareness, and being coachable), Endurance (being unwavering, becoming and remaining self motivated), and Uplift (increasing one’s physical, mental, and spiritual strength while improving one’s self, family, and community).

Our Lamplight icons are Dr. Ernest Everett Just – Omega Psi Phi (Sound Adulthood), Arturo Schomberg – Kappa Alpha Psi (Scholarship), Thurgood Marshall (Endurance), and Dr. Martin Luther King – Alpha Phi Alpha (Uplift). Our former icon, Dr. Cosby, has been respectfully replaced due to recent controversy.
