As a way to help motivate students as well as improve our school and community relationship, Booker T. Washington High School is hosting its own "Million Father March" Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 7:00 a.m.-7:30 a.m.
We are asking that male members of the BTW community come out to meet and greet our students as they enter a fully accredited high school! The research shows that "[w]hen fathers and men are engaged with their children's schooling, students show improved learning outcomes and demonstrate better behavior. Principals who have participated in the Million Father March have reported positive changes in their school climate and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers, parents, and students."
You do not have to be a father of a Booker T. student to participate as anyone can be a role model. We are calling ALL males (grandfathers, fathers, uncles, brothers, lawyers, doctors, military personnel, police officers, shipyard workers, construction workers, landscapers, etc.) to come out and be a positive motivating force for our students!
Again, we look forward to seeing you this Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Booker T. Washington High School between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Thirty minutes of your time can impact our students immensely!
